Game Creek Ranch offers Ranch ToursRanch Tours

Experience life on Game Creek Ranch and see how we’re passionately preserving the Western spirit. Through one of our comprehensive tours you have many opportunities to learn how a “working” ranch operates. Listed below are our tour options and their contents. We truly look forward to meeting you and showing you the “ropes” of down home Ranch living!

Morning Feed Tour: 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Rise and shine the old fashioned way with a nice hearty cowboy breakfast. Ranch work begins with the rising sun. After breakfast you will be led on a tour of the facilities and introduced to the working staff members who await your questions and are ready to assist you throughout the duration of your tour.

Chores include driving our monster John Deere tractor and dragging the arena, feeding the livestock, and preparing for the training and lessons of the day. Help us to gather fresh eggs from our chicken coop. Just as people have different dietary needs, so do horses, cows, sheep, dogs, cats, chickens, goats and pigs.

On this tour you are invited to become an active part in this every-day morning ritual, from graining and slopping to the turn-out of the horses. The daily horse turn-out is a unique routine where ranch hands work as a team to run and corral the horses. Although every day is different on a ranch, you can witness how some practices must be done routinely so that the animals can actually gain comfort and confidence. While helping the ranch hands save time in their chores, the animals are asked to use their own intelligence to assist in the chore.

Be prepared to be a part of this most exciting and educational time on a ranch. Listed below is your event breakdown.

7:30 - 8:45 a.m. Breakfast served with coffee and juice.

The Deluxe Tour: 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The Deluxe Tour here at Game Creek allows you the opportunity of spending the day here on this special parcel of land. You will learn the essentials of what is needed to run a ranch from sun up to sun down. The great thing about this tour is that, as we all know, things are always changing. Each new day on the ranch is a new set of circumstances. You will be immersed in a hands-on, down-and-dirty educational experience in the art of running a ranch.

For the duration of the day, you will be able to have an adopted horse to learn from and to create a trusting bond with a magnificent animal. With your companion, you will learn natural horsemanship techniques from the ground and transfer your newfound respect while in the saddle in a lesson. You will also be able to learn about and practice simple veterinary vital sign checks on your horse including a check of the respiratory rate, heart rate, hydration levels using their gums to check the capillary refill time or the pinch test, gauging horse’s intestinal sounds, and taking their temperature. Instructors and vet techs go over common health issues in horses and simple ways to prevent them. You will also watch as our Ferrier trims and shoes your horse, sizing the shoe to the horse based on measurements of the horses hoof and the specific needs of that horse. Your experience will include memorabilia of you and your horse, including the health records of your new friend based on your findings.

This tour includes all of the highlights from Morning, Instructor, and Evening tours as well as an hour break for lunch. Meals will be provided by Game Creek Ranch.
